Look what we shot! Afrin Nasal Spray 3 Spot Campaign. Directed and interviewed by Ben Dolphin /Produced by Arising film & digital. Phil Silvestri/Euro-RSCG Managing Director, Executive Creative Director raving to his clients @ Schering Plough that we pulled off this shoot without any of recruits aware their interviews were being considered for an AFRIN NASAL SPRAY commercial! This gave a truly authentic and genuine feeling to their performances.
Media Blasts were sent by the highly accomplished casting agency Strickman-Ripps requesting participation with a market research survey on the usage of nasal decongestants. The criteria that the recruits needed to meet were that of congestion or discomfort with their sinuses. Upon arrival the recruits were greeted and again pre-qualified for the symptoms required. This was shot for two days and Ben interviewed over 60 recruits. Subsequently the agency loved Bens voice conducting the interviews and used his voice for the entire voiceover as Phil had commented very SHATNERish.

We took over a vacant Madison Avenue office in midtown and dressed it as if it was a working market research firm. We dressed and prepped the location with office furniture, couches, pads, pens right down to having our film crew dress in business attire. We shot with six cameras, two Sony EX3s were visible, an Iconix HD camera was our plantCam hidden in a plant, a Toshiba 2K camera in the ceiling, inside the hung ceiling, and two button/spy type cameras hidden in a notebook on the table and in the garbage pail below the table.
We sought to anticipate all issues and to control the performance We could not adjust any of the hidden cameras therefore we anchored the chair to the floor that the recruits were sitting on. This shooting strategy generated a varied and intimate Portrait of each of the Recruits.
All six cameras were filming live and sent their signals to our Video Village. Here our digital team Captured, Mirrored and then converted files for delivery to editorial.
Berwyn Editorial was quite amazing as they completed seven: 15 spots over the weekend for a Monday presentation. Ultimately 3 spots were chosen for the Afrin Campaign and are currently airing nationally.
