  • I too am a sheepdog trainer. I also train service dogs. Been doing it 40 years. I never said I thought it was impressive. I did say it was early training in goose control and we do have permission to remove those geese from that soccer field. Something we worked on everyday. I just think you don't see the whole picture. Why don't you look at some other videos of Jin and then remind yourself that Jin's primary training is that of a medical alert service dog. Something at which he excels.

  • Canada Geese are an invasive species. The International Migratory Bird Act states that dogs are an effective method of control and does not require a permit. In this case we were clearing a soccer field where kids play. The training here is learning control on the walk in and until the sweep. Let me guess, you're one of those people who assume a completely trained dog from one lesson.

  • Well, I'm glad you're happy with what he does for you, I guess.

  • No, I'm just a very successful sheepdog trainer and trialler who can't understand why you think this is impressive. And I highly suspect that your state game laws trump the bird act too but that's a separate issue.

  • What's suposed to be the point of this video? To illustrate that dogs will harass wildlife when they are allowed to? BFD. Any dog will do that. Running up the middle at top speed isn't control. A dog that was under control would have widely circled the geese, stopped on command at any point on that circle, and moved the geese off in any direction and at any speed the handler instruced him to do. It's called an outrun and isn't that hard to train. This is just chasing which is untrained behavior.
