At Three Sister's Springs in Crystal River Florida, tourist get up close to one of the most fascinating animals in the world, the West Indian Manatee (Trichechus manatus). Manatees often interact with humans in the water, providing eco-tourism to many of the regions they inhabit. Preservation of these unique species is imperative, and respecting their waterways through proper boating safety and by reducing pollution, littering, and other environmental impacts is a sure step way to ensuring this magnificent species remain for the next generation.
@jlopezosci Hello there! I have only seen manatees in the salt water one time and was coincidentally in West Palm Beach near a beach off by Breaker's Reef! Although manatees do migrate to the salt water during the summer time, spotting is much harder! I was fortunate to have grown up in the area, so it was completely free to get in a canoe and I knew the place before hand! However they do have tours and would highly recommend it, Winter is the best time. TY for your kind comments =)
