that said it all. my siblings speak english in a more american accent , but my parents speak it in a more british accent. soo yea.. hehe :)

^exactly. we get fed with american media 24/7 through various mediums, i think it's only expected that some malaysians here have american accents. although the older generation of malaysians usually adopt a more british accent.

most malaysians that are proficient in english, speak with american accents, due to the media, and also american language teachers and so on. its not an uncommon thing. plus depends wherever they spend their time they pick up the accent.
