Engine Thrust Noise at Area 51 Video 2

This is from a short video at the warning signs on Groom Lake Road. The loudest sound is the cheap camera, but the sound of a rumble in the background is what I was trying to capture. The sound lasted 12-15 seconds at a time. This happened 3-4 times. I have been there many times and I have not heard this sound. It sounded like an engine was thrusting, but there was nothing in the sky around us. 1-06-10

Sure can, if the conditions are right. I live about 30 miles away from a Naval Air Station, and some days you can hear the jet noise very loudly.

Could be just some engine run ups going on.... Testing the F-16's engine? Or something more interesting :-)

Well, it is a test facility. They're probably doing some static testing on the ground. Happens all the time.
