Pai Pai by itself means "going, going" but in this song, it means GONE...GONE...so, this is what the whole song says: the nite fell hard---you went off to distant places..."just like the birds...gone, gone, gone, just like the birds, never to return". So instead of going, going, it's gone, gone..

The actual dance that Greek do to "Pai Pai" is called a Karsilamas.
