Come Undone

This is a combination tribute.

First, it is a tribute and remembrance of the one person on this planet I have ever truly felt was my best friend. His name was Alexander, and he died in February of 2004 of a terrible, terrible disease which should afflict no one. Ever. My heart died with him in 2004...

Second, it is a tribute to an amazing work of Manga/Anime known as Kaze to Ki no Uta. I stumbled across this particular anime movie thanks to a user on here known as Blemmye who had taken the time to post the movie in 10-minute increments so that others might be able to see this otherwise very rare and hard to obtain video adaptation.

I was emotionally DEVESTATED when I watched this anime... If anyone else who knew Alexander ever runs across this tribute that I have made, you will understand why, of course... For those of you who did not have the pleasure nor the honor of knowing him, suffice it to say that Gilbert in Kaze to Ki no Uta reminds me SO strongly of my Alexander that... Well, as I said, I was emotionally devastated...

I felt that it was time to make a memorial of sorts for my love, Alexander, and it was fortuitous that I ran across Kaze to Ki no Uta at this point in my life. Strangely, when I had finished watching it initially, I had this urge to listen to the song Come Undone by Duran Duran (from their Wedding Album) over and over and over...

So, I decided to wed the images of Kaze to Ki no Uta with the song that helped me get past the emotional crisis I had run up against, Come Undone... I felt that the song epitomized the struggle and eventual pairing of the two protagonists from the movie perfectly... It illustrated their story without needing explanation, I felt...

So, for Alexander, I do this... For Gilbert and Serge's doomed love, I also do this...

And, I hope that you, as the viewer, can take something away from this tribute for yourself...

@genericotoko64 Thank you. :) That's the only way I can respond! ;) But, yah, still, after all these years after having made it, it brings me to tears... I actually own a copy of "Kaze to Ki no Uta" but I ABSOLUTELY cannot watch it... Hell, it's even painful to read the manga which I've been doing as it is AGONIZINGLY SLOWLY being translated into English for the first time! :( (sigh) The only thing I don't like about this vid is the end. I may remake JUST the ending someday. We'll see.

@genericotoko64 Re: The Ending: I was LITERALLY sobbing as I actually made the file, and I was so emotionally exhausted (because of the HUGELY painful memories of my dead friend, coupled with Kaze which, itself, is tragic, and the song that pulled me through my personal tragedy of losing my friend like that) and literally almost couldn't see the screen for the tears running down my face that I wound up just re-using some earlier footage for the last verse. The VERY ending, I love and will keep!

i sympathize with the kaze to ki characters a lot even though i haven't ever been through anything quite so traumatic or devastating. i adore the manga because you can get a strong feel for the characters' dimensional and complicated personalities--i think it's the one manga i've read that has been truly unpredictable, it's never failed to shock me...maybe i'm just being naive, but it really does mean a lot to me.

I know how you feel completely. I lost what I felt like was my soul mate December 21st 2007. He was on his way back home for Christmas and was killed in a car crash. I have not found another like Zane and I may never again. I am sorry for your loss... its a hard thing to go through. Also a very awesome AMV by the way ^_^ rates five.
