the next day*
Demi: *she just finishes drying her hair, getting dressed, etc. She walks downstairs grabbing her backpack ready for the first day of school as a Junior. She picks up her phone and texts Joe, saying shes ready to go to school. When shes done she notices she has a voicemail. As she listens to it a distressed look comes to her face*
*with Joe*
Joe: *hes sitting at the table leg bobbin up and down in an ADD sort of way.* NICK! HURRY UP! Demis ready to go!!
Nick: *comes downstairs* Ok, ok Im here. Chill.
Joe: Finally. *they go out and get in the car which Joe drives over to Demis house*
Demi: *walks out of the door, and into Joes car* Gmorning. *she gives him a kiss on the cheek*
Nick: See, now doesnt that just feel so natural? You couldve been a couple a month ago.
Demi: *smiles at Nick* Howre things with Selena?
Nick: *coughs* Um...
Demi: I thought so.
Nick: *mumbles to himself*
Joe: Alright Children, lets not fight on the first day of school. *starts up the car and starts driving. After a while he notices Demi has a distracted look on her face* Demi, you ok?
Demi: *looks at Joe for a second, then snaps out of it* Oh, yeah. Sorry, just tired.
Joe: *worried* Didnt you sleep well?
Demi: *hurriedly* Yeah. Dont worry Im... Im fine.
Joe: *looks at her, then back at the road* Ok.
*they get to the school*
Demi: *looks out at the school remembering about Zac* Shoot.
Joe: What?
Demi: If we run into Zac...
Joe: Hey. Dont worry about it.
Nick: *sarcastically* Yes, dont worry, Joe will swoop in to save the day!
Joe: *laughs* You know it.
Demi: Whats your problem anyways Mr. Grumpy in the back seat?
Nick: *gives her a look* Um, first day of school?
Demi: Yes, but Selena will be here
Nick: *he visually brightens up* Oh right. Come on lets go! *he gets out of the car and walks to the school*
Demi: So wed better go...
Joe: Demi, wait. Somethings wrong. What?
Demi: *sighs and avoids his eyes* I got a call from my dad last night. He left a voicemail
Joe: *trying to make eye contact* And?
Demi: Hes coming home soon.
Joe: *is silent for a minute* Well, You know Ill be there whenever you need me right? IF anything ever goes wrong, just know Im here for you.
Demi: I know *smiles at Joe and opens her door and gets out*
Joe: *also does, and goes around to her. He notices she still looks a little anxious so her takes her hand, squeezing it* Hey. Dont worry. Itll be fine.
Demi: *smiles at him* Because youll be there, right?
Joe: *smiles* Always.
*they enter the school holding hands*
*after 1rst period*
Demi: *shes at her locker with Selena*
Selena: Any sign of Zac yet?
Demi: No. not Yet. Maybe hes forgotten about me.
Selena: Lets hope so. *then she notices someone walking over and puts a hand on Demis arm* Speak of the Devil.
Demi: *looks and Sees Zac approaching.* oh crap *hurriedly closes her locker starting to walk away*
Zac: Hey babe, why the rush?
Demi: *stops and slowly turns around* Im not your babe.
Selena: So back of Buster. Shes taken.
Zac: *laughs* OH really? With who?
Demi: His name is Joe. Hes new here.
Zac: Hmm, well hunny, so far I havent heard of any new kids, or anyone by the name of Joe. Are you sure you not just trying to make me jealous? *he gets closer to Demi until he has her cornered against the lockers*
Demi: Zac, stop it! I broke up with you. Deal with it.
Selena: Demi should I get-
Zac: *rolls his eyes and sighs sarcastically* Get who? Her little imaginary boyfriend? yeah right. Dems come on, like anyone besides me would go out with you. *gets puts his hands on the lockers Demis against, trapping her*
Demi: Get away from me! *tries to get out*
Zac: Hey where you trying to go?
Selena: *tries to push him* Back off Jerk!
Zac: Or what?
Joe: *had seen this going on from down the hall and ran over quickly, and was now standing directly behind Zac a few feet* Or Ill bust your face in so hard you wont be able to show up to school for a week.
Zac: *drops his arms and turns around looking Joe up and Down* So your the new kid on the block? Jees Demi. Im offended if you dumped me for this guy.
Demi: *walks over to Joe quickly* Zac, just go away. Im not worth the trouble.
Zac: What trouble? Come on, theres no competition here. Youll come back to me soon enough babe. *he turns around*
Joe: Dont you dare call her that.
Zac: *turns around* Excuse me?
Joe: *walks up to him just inches away from his face, and says slowly and dangerously* You leave Demi alone, got it? If you dont I swear, Youll have me to answer to. And trust me, you dont even want to know what Ive been wanting to do to you for awhile. Just dont give me a chance to do it, and get me expelled from school on my first day.
