Step 2: Setting the line up: attaching to anchors and tightening with a friction knot.
Showing a friend how to set up his brand new slackline for the first time (2 of 6 videos).

Once you've made your anchors and have a permanent loop (via overhand knot) in ONE end of your slackline, attach that loop to one of the anchors. Walk over to the other anchor, and tie a clove hitch through two carabiners about 4 feet or so from the end of the second anchor. Looping the webbing between the carabiners so each loop is in the other (like an inward spiral), the friction from the line will hold it in place and keep the tension. Pull tight and you have a slackline! Don't forget to use carpet or towels or whatever's handy to wrap the trees you anchor. This helps protect the bark and keep your line from fraying. I only wrapped one of the trees because I was only setting this line up to demonstrate how it's done.

  • what were you thinking guy?

  • @Vaboker he said 60 feet at like 3:30

  • very well introduction, thanks :)

  • Really good guide! How long and wide is your main line?

  • Cool, but there are equally good methods that don't involve a carabiner.

  • Great tutorial. Instructing a real person makes this very easy to follow. The two of you have a good Q&A dynamic going. Thanks!
