Part 1 of 2. An 8 pedal overdrive shootout. Fuzz Face clone, Zendrive 1 at 12 volts, Tim at 12 volts, SIB Varidrive on gain setting with JJ ECC81 tube, Menatone King of the Britains (newest version), Keeley modded Boss Blues Driver, MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe, Danelectro FAB Metal, Ibanez TS7 modded to TS808 specs. Baseline rig sound is a Prairiewood Les Paul with Wolfetone Dr. Vintage pickups running through 2 bypass loops and 3 delay pedals (one Memory Lane is always on), into a Holland AC30 clone (in half power mode)into a 65 Amps cab with a Celestion Alnico Blue and a Celestion G12H30. No recording devices, just whatever the camera picks up. Hopefully this will help people a bit when choosing between overdrive pedals. Thanks!

how do you get rid of pedals you dont end up keeping? btw ive got a brand new electro harmonix memory man w/ hazarai and a line6 echo park pedal that i'm willing to trade or sell both for $200 if anyones interested let me know
Sorry I saw this so late! I have the gain on the Tim set very low, just above 9 o'clock. And the volume is around 2 o'clock. And then I set the bass and treble knobs very carefully to match my amp's eq.
I ended up keeping the Tim for overdrive and the Varidrive for a solo boost. I kept the Zendrive for a while, but ended up replacing it with it's more gainy-voiced brother, the Mosferatu; and I kept the Fuzz Face clone for a while, but eventually replaced it with a Hartman Vintage Germanium Fuzz.
I have yet to try an original 808. I've tried a home 808 mod to my TS7, and Analogman 808 modded TS9, and a Mad Professor Little Green Wonder. I'm just not sure I'm a tubescreamer guy. I do have to say, though, the Little Green Wonder sounds extremely, extremely good.
One of these days I'll have to bite the bullet and go get a vintage 808. Didn't Vaughn play a TS-10, though? Or was it just 808's?
