lol you're so far off about VOIP phones having a long way to go.... Theres so many people that use them everyday without problem. Hell the support center I work for strictly uses VOIP. Mine works great and has for 2 years now. 1.5 mb conection is nothing special. your connection is an instance where "you get what you pay for" try upgrading your connection and you would of likely saw a big difference and its $20.00 get over it lol

My mom has similar internet specs. Your upload speed is probably around the 384 KBPS range and that will greatly affect outgoing call quality. Even when I use my vonage device under my mothers internet, the call quality is noticeably decreased. I have an 18MBPS up/2MBPS down using both vonage and my dads magic jack and they both sound crystal clear.

I'm curious.. do you have DLS or Cable internet? Obviously the MagicJack's performance is dependent upon the speed and reliability of your internet connection. There are quite a few areas that have poor internet connections - so the magic jack is not for them. There are quite a few areas in the country where cell phones also have a problem with getting robust signals. My beef with the MagicJack is that it interferes with other audio applications running on my computer.

magicjack worked great for me. crystal clear no drop or garbling. easy to set up and card said to plug into compute and wait for it to come up on screen and follow prompts and then everything worked fine. i love it and so far 3 months and still not one problem.

Been using mine for two years. No issues! I make international calls every day. I took mine to Italy and used it to call back to the States. No issues. Not sure what the issue is with yours, but mine works great and for twenty bucks a year, it cannot be beat!

I have similar specifications as to you, around 9 to 10 MB/sec download, and 1MB/sec upload. It works for me, perhaps with a slower download speed or older computer it doesn't sound good. Not sure .

Buyer beware.... I spent 5 hours trying to get this baloney sauce to work and the tech support was a bridge to nowhere in the end. I hope this company goes down in the flames that it deserves.

The problem was that the caller could not be heard by the receiver. Their remedial steps to fix the problem were useless.

Mine works great.....of course I have cable internet and not DSL crap. I've always had problems with DSL.
