Wheeling, West Virginia has a wealth of pre-Civil War, Victorian, and Italianate architecture. I have tried to do justice to the beauty and elegance of this city, which has a disproportionate amount of substantial architecture for its small size. Many of the buildings photographed here date from the mid 19th century. The oldest buildings date from the 1820s-1830s.
love the music. I'm crippled so I love to see other places around the United States I can no longer visit. Thanks

Wheeling's downtown is a devastated mess. Look for more historic structures to be taken down before any power lines do. Entire swaths of Market Street were demolished for nothing, and the $10 million McClure House Hotel remodeling of 1978 was a crime against civilization. No wonder this town has lost half it's population!

Lots of nice architecture. I just wish Wheeling would get rid of more overhead wires and telephone poles, and plant a bunch more trees. It would really improve the looks of the area.

It would have been nice to see some more of the historical landmarks of wheeling covered. You managed to cover the main part of wheeling but there are some really old and well kept structures on National Rd. which in itself if historical. The fine arts center and the Oldest house in whg across from mcdonalds. Very well put together nice try to make whg look like a good place to be.
