Yukio Edano, Japan's chief government spokesman has transformed into an unlikely hero during the nation's earthquake-tsunami-nuclear radiation crisis, with many Japanese comparing him to Jack Bauer, a character in the action TV series, 24. He's been lauded for his tireless work ethic.

According to the Daily Telegraph of London, "Mr. Edano, the chief cabinet secretary and the right-hand man of Naoto Kan, the prime minister, has appeared every few hours on television in a blue emergency suit to update the nation."

Yet, many Japanese are worried that their unsung hero will collapse from a lack of sleep since Friday's double-whammy disasters. Apparently, the hashtag #edano--nero is trending on the popular blogging site -- "nero" is Japanese phrase for "go to sleep."
