I like Z scale and N scale because they're smaller and a layout takes up less room. HO scale just seems too large.
At the old historic train depot in Wayzata, Minnesota, they have a G scale (garden scale) layout outside, but that's outside so there is plenty of room. It's about 20 feet from the train tracks where the real trains roll by.
Lake Minnetonka is on the other side. So there's gorgeous scenery and a beach just a few hundred feet away.

Have you seen "T" scale. It is half the size of N scale. It makes Z scale look enormous.
