Brent Chapman shares a great setup rig that Alton Jones ties on when he is on the line to bring some large fish back to the scales. Brent explains how he allows for the sensitivity in the line he allows a leader of fluorocarbon fishing line tightened onto a braided line allowing Alton Jones the strength with the braided fishing line and still allowing the bait to be a perfect presentation for the jig without risk of seeing the line, nor getting away once the fish just breaths on the bait. • I like 65# braid for heavy cover. but swin jigs or grass jigs I use 15lb mono, simply because I do not heed to rip bass out of sticks before they lock me up with those types of jigs. Tying leaders is too time consuming in a tourney. but Everyone does theyre own thing, thats why only some people become famous.

  • @Rayrraff and I, on the other hand, always fish 10lb. fluorocarbon, even when I'm pitching and flipping a jig. The reason for this is that the lakes I normally fish are clear and highly pressured by anglers, however, the main cover available to largemouth and spotted bass on my home lake is man-made. Docks, walls, riprap, and a few lawdowns, that's it, no standing timber at all and absolutely zero grass. You've gotta pick the right line according to the situation at-hand.

  • @Rayrraff agree ...great comment :)

  • It's not even worth it. Most of the time when you are fishing jigs you are getting reaction strikes. The fish doesn't even get a good look at the bait let alone the line. it just adds another place for your line to break. I always use 40+ lb braid when flipping jigs.

  • good stuff, man =) thank you.

  • nice
