Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson appointed a Group Plan Commission to revisit Cleveland's historic Group Plan laid out at the turn of the 20th Century by famed architect and urban planner Daniel Burnham. The Group Plan Commission is exploring the public spaces and connectivity of Cleveland assets as the city is rapidly developing a plethora of projects from the revamping of its Convention Center, Public Square, lake and river fronts, and building a Medical Mart and Casino. Its YOUR CHANGING CLEVELAND. Be a part of it and suggest what you want in your public spaces at www.yourchangingcleveland.com.

  • 0:43 I hate it when people pronounce it Cuya-hoe-ga, I always say Cuya-ha-ga. Anyone else??

  • What do you know? My comment didn't get posted. Fancy that.

  • What I suggest is parting company with the load of disingenuous, crony, dime store shopkeeper pols and Union Club money shitsacks who use this city a a Monopoly board let some people who aren't in their Rolodexes actually make a few bucks without busting their balls and sending a pack of harrumphing dolts to make up violations, steal their land, and turn it into a "soon to be developed for yuppie jerkoffs and lawyers!" Dresden-esque clay and asphalt deserts. Just a suggestion.

  • Chicago, Chicago, Chicago. Please visit Millennium Park. That's my two cents.

  • i'm so excited!!!!! Cleveland's changing and for the better!!!!!

  • The proposed kiosks (end of video) – I dislike the hodge-podge look of the kiosk. Consider using some form of unifying element of design. Also, consider incorporating a high-end, quality material, such as granite to invoke the classicism of the Court of Honor/Mall.

The Group Plan Commission also needs to move quickly at establishing the educational/promotional space discussed for the Downtown Cleveland Public Library’s 10th floor.

  • Architectural & City Planning All-Star Team --

Daniel Burnham reference – expand and include the other prominent members of his “team”

    Arnold William Brunner

    Daniel Burnham

    John Carrère

All three are extremely notable and the fact that the three of them worked here in Cleveland, together on this project is significant.

  • The Commission needs to conduct public meetings downtown, east and west side, AND in the southern portion of the county - where most of the population of the region migrated to these past 20 years.

Use of the term “Malls” is OK, but drop the references to “Malls A, B and C” and focus on what is unique to Cleveland – introduce the term used when the Group Plan was conceived – “Court of Honor”, which referenced the Court of Honor displayed at the Chicago World Fair in 1893.

  • Suggestions regarding the VIDEO and overall PROJECT.

Framing the project – this is a regional asset/project, promote the region -- You’re Changing [insert – “Greater”] Cleveland

    You’re Changing Greater Cleveland

If we want regional buy-in and support then we can’t go to Strongsville, Lakewood, Solon… and talk about “Cleveland”, we should be talking about “Greater Cleveland”.
