Amy Goodman on Bush Team at Bali Climate Conference Update

On Dec. 10, 2007, Al Gore accepted the Nobel Peace Prize for his work with the vast majority of climate scientists publicizing global climate change. His acceptance speech is vitally important to the planet while Gore himself is being vilified by spokesmen for polluters.

The same week as this speech, Bush Administration Climate Officials are obstructing efforts to develop cooperation to save the planet. Once again, short-term financial gain for the few is being placed ahead of the vital needs of humanity, e.g. to have a safe planet on which to live. How can this be anything but a climate crime?

Impeach Bush and Cheney now!

Bush and his cronies in Bali will be judged in the near future as climate change affects millions in the US and worldwide. This is about big business (and oil - yet again) and not about what's best for the future benefit of healthy living on this planet. Bush is a fool and people are foolish to support him

True, from our point of view he does many foolish things. However, he comes from the world of the super-rich and greedy and from that point of view, it has truly been "Mission Accomplished". Just look at the price of oil. Keep track of the Iraqi oil law and you will see how we plan to steal their oil and protect our oil companies' as "American Strategic Interests" for the next 30 years and more.

WHAT is wrong with those idiots in D.C.? They are killing us! Tax breaks for OIL, (which contributes to global warming), financing world terrorism and war, yet nothing to preserve our planet? God is NOT going to like this very much. If WE don't speak out and require our leaders to fix this, WE will be held accountable of our inaction.

We need collective action regarding our doomed human species; good comment re: dead, rich or poor, it's the same. Driving just one mile releases .8 pounds of carbon dioxide (economy car).  When getting food, we shouldn't drive through; I park the car to help save our planet. Bush and his cronies do not offer us any hope, perhaps the next president will. We need leadership with a mind not an empty skull.

Let's hope that the news later today is positive from Bali. I am based on a Pacific island in SE Asia and even the local islanders here are noticing some effects of global warming. No doubt, but they fail to realize the collapse of our economy and the distruction of our planet will leave them rich, homeless, countryless, and possibly DEAD!

I agree entirely. This is about money and protecting the interests of the super rich. I just wonder how they can sleep peacefully at night knowing that this is the real reason for stalling. I also wonder what they are going to tell their grand children when the predicted world climate change occurs an millions are either dead or displaced. However, probably not in our lifetimes - so why worry .................
