Metroid Prime - Meta Ridley

Every video game series tends to have a recurring villain, and Metroid Prime and the rest of the Metroid series is no exception! This ugly flying creature, known as Ridley, appears in almost every Metroid game in existance in one way or another...

This battle against Ridley can potentially be one of the longest battles against this similar foe, but certainly not the most difficult. Ridley starts off by flying all around the battlefield and trying to bombard you with everything of a hurty nature, so your job is to blast the pest out of the sky until his mechanized wings fail on him, forcing him to land.

The ground battle can potentially be a lot more difficult than when Ridley is flying around, but if you get a knack for timing your side-step correctly then you'll find the ground battle pretty simple. Just be quick on your feet and give Ridley a mouthful of hurt and you'll be set to keep on going.

I've heard that there's a trick during the first phase of the battle where you can Boost Ball into Ridley multiple times while he's temporarily on the ground in order to take an enormous chunk of health out of him. I've seen this work on a PAL (European) version of the game, but I'm not sure if that's carried over to the North American version.

@aq4930 The Prime games take place between Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid 2 Return of Samus, and Metroid Other M takes place after Super Metroid and before Metroid Fusion.

@Marklmon1 I think it has somthing to do with the fact that Ridley never actually died until Super Metroid and that Samus was aware of his survival after ever defeat prior to the one in Super Metroid, so the way she acted infront of him in Metroid Other M is kind of normal. If Samus was truly a coward she would have screamed like a b@#Rh instead of freezing up and having a flash back of herself as a child encountering RIdley.
