川上音二郎一座 ［明治の流行歌］オッペケペー節［日本人最古の歌声］

１９９７年東芝EMIから発売「甦るオッペケペー」より
三代目桂藤兵衛/作　川上音二郎/演出　『オッペケペー節』

１９００年（明治３３年）パリ万博での川上音二郎一座の公演をイギリスのグラモフォン社が録音したもの。川上音二郎の声ではありません。

イギリスのEMIに保管され埋もれていたものが、１９９５年に再発見されました。
日本人最古の録音と言われていましたが、これより一ヶ月前に録音されたものが後に見つかったので、二番目に古い録音となってしまいました。しかし日本人の歌声としては最古­のものではないでしょうか。

(2) ...to a rakugo master in Osaka, and, using the stage name Ukiyotei Marumaru, became a regular in the vaudeville halls, where a satirical song of his with a catchy nonsense refrain, "Oppekepe-bushi", became a runaway hit in the autumn of 1888.
