I used a blonde to black hair dye to lighten my hair and it turned blonde/orange at the roots, dark brown past the ears... if I use a clarifying shampoo to lighten up my hair should I still use a hair stripper to get the darker parts or will the hair catch the color once I dye it?

So you do have to strip your hair before you color your hair that color? I have dark brown hair and I don't really wanna do any stripping or bleaching to my hair. I just want to go straight to the color. Do you think it would work?
