Today's video is an informative one from http://LivinLaVidaLowCarb.com blogger Jimmy Moore and his wife Christine as they discuss the all-important two-week period on a low-carb diet known as Induction. Anyone starting low-carb needs to get their body into ketosis so their body can begin burning stored fat for fuel.

In Episode 38 of their popular "Livin' La Vida Low-Carb On YouTube" video series, Jimmy and Christine discuss the basics of low-carb Induction by telling you exactly what foods you should and shouldn't eat on this earliest phase. Remember, you don't stay in this phase for long unless you have a lot of weight to lose. And the purpose of Induction is NOT weight loss--it's to kickstart your body into burning fat.

Here's what you eat during Induction:

- Unlimited meats and eggs
- 1 cup of non-starchy veggies
- 2 cups of green leafy veggies
- 3 bowls of bouillon broth
- 4 ounces of cheese
- 6 olives
- 1/2 avocado
- 3 teaspoons of lemon/lime juice
- 4 tablespoons of heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 4 tablespoons of mayonnaise
- 1 serving of pickles

In future videos, Jimmy and Christine will continue to talk about the various aspects of Induction, including snacks, sweeteners, and other such important topics for people choosing to begin on their own healthy low-carb lifestyle journey. You WON'T want to miss those!

  • I eat much less than that actually. In the past week I've only consumed 1Tbs witha naked bacon cheeseburger. Most fat comes from the natural ones in meat and cheese along with butter and coconut oil.

  • Thank you Alvsyngr! I've been doing this long enough now I EXPECT this stuff. :) Appreciate the encouragement.

  • Jimmy - you mention to limit yourself to 4tbs of Mayo a day, and although that is a fair amount, why? The way I see it shouldn't it be med/high fat, moderate protein and low carb? I am also reading a lot of Mark Sisson stuff so I may be off track for Atkins here. as always, great video!

  • @livinlowcarbman JM you provide a wealth of info, if someone makes a snide or stupid remark don't let it get ya down brother - remember you have a legion of followers who love you!

  • One aspect of kindness involves respect for others' time. The first minute and 10 seconds of this video was a complete waste of my time. I'll never get that time back. It's gone. Please, in the future, cut out every hint of nonsense and get right to the info, the obtaining of which is the sole purpose of our clicks.

  • @alphacause - I don't understand the thing w/dairy-wouldn't consider it a carb, and if it has any... as you said.. miniscule quantities. I love cheese, especially goat & some cheddars. Besides I thought this was LOW-carb, not NO-carb right?

  • diary? including butter?

  • @livinlowcarbman your advise works. i went off dairy for 2 days and now i'm down 3lbs. Its absolutely fantastic. Thanks so much for all your suggestion, you guys are doing a great service.

  • @livinlowcarbman OMG thanks, i been eating tonns of cheese, sourcream and whole cream for the past 2 weeks and seeing poor results. Now I know why. Thanks a lot for your insight, truly life changing. im so greatfull i landed on your channel and learned about the effects of dairy as i was getting so frustrated and planning to quit atkins. I'll go dairy free from now and see my results. Thanks again
