Here's my (almost) completed portable solar car stereo. The entire unit is composed of solely car stereo parts, excluding the solar panels. The entire build time was approximately 30+ hours. I actually built this out of inspiration after I saw an "Ion Audio Block Rocker". I mainly use this during the summer, when I load it on a wagon and bring it on the beach. It attracts a lot of attention, trust me.
Read below for all of the specs. I appreciate any and all feedback. Also, please check out my website if you're interested....

Amp: CrunchPZT900.4. It runs at around 120 watts RMS on each of the four channels. $99
Sub: One Visionik 10 inch. Around 300W RMS If I remember correctly. $59.
Speakers: Two 6x9 Kenwoods. About 95W RMS each. $49 for both.
Battery: One 35 amp deep cycle lead acid battery. $85
Solar panels: One 20 watt panel. Two 5 watt panels. $65 + $30 = $95
Charge controller: One 7 amp SunForce controller. $20
Speaker enclosures: $45+$30=$75.
Wiring, hinges, ect: Approximately $20
Total: $502 and 30+ hours.

  • Man you are a freakin' genius! This is some amazing work right here =) Do you know what the limitations of the RMS for the subs/speakers would be depending on how big the solar panels are??

  • @BlackClover01 Thanks! The speakers do not run directly off of the solar panels, so the solar panels do not influence the RMS of the subs/speakers. Because there is a battery backup, I can run the speakers at max volume for about 6 to 8 hours. Hope that helps!

  • Great Work. You can use subwoofer's wire like in bridge of amp for better performance. This will utilize both channels of amp made for sub.

  • @coolsavy1987 Thanks! And yeah I just found out in the past week or so that bridging it is better, I'm an idiot haha.

  • Dude you need to bridge you sub just because you have a 4 channel amp doesn't mean you have use it as a 4 channel take a left positive and the right negative and bridge that subwoofer see you're getting all the power from both channels to the sub cuz you're running your sub at half running on the left channel

  • @bassmekanik101 Yeah, I tried it a while a go, but when I do, the sub receives too much power and bottoms out before the 6x9's do, limiting the maximum volume.

  • please make a tutorial video of this and where can u buy all the parts u need?

Love the sterio! great work man!

  • Great work! but why didn't you bridge the sub

  • @Tubestiina you're an idiot...

  • @GreenTechNetwork WTF receives too much power and bottoms out? If you won't give enough power, it will burn the voice coils from distortion. Too much power is always better than lacking power. If you bridge the amplifier, the sensitivity will be the same. There will just be more clean headroom for the subwoofer. So something is wrong in your setup.

  • now you just need dope beats

  • @GreenTechNetwork

DUBs are one of the best budget speakers.
