Well, SOAD (upon reunition) may release songs written with the style of songs like Toxicity, but I think that even Toxicity is a bit too simple for what John is needing to perform. In an interview in May, John said that his favorite SOAD song, overall, is 'Jet Pilot', which means that songs like 'Bounce', 'Shimmy', 'X' and maybe even 'Cigaro'/'B.Y.O.B.' are going to be the closest to what SOAD comes back with. You may want to listen to Scar's song 'Chemicals' which is similar..
Look forward to the reunion then because their drummer used to write much of the music in the earliest days of the band, and Serj has promised that John will be the main writer when the time comes.
Well, if you paid attention to SOAD's interviews, Daron and Serj explained the reason as to why the style of Hypnotize/Mezmerize was so different than past works - that reason being that Serj, who was already busy writing his solo works, agreed to Daron's request which was to make a different sounding album set, that style being the style that is Scabs on Broadway. B.Y.O.B. (one of the only songs on Hyp/Mez that sounds 'older') was actually written by a non-SOAD member nearly 10 years ago.
Honestly, I think Scars on Broadway has the potential to be better than SOAD. SOB's one album, to me at least, is just as good as any album SOAD released. IF Daron could just balls up and go back to make just one more SOB album, they could really prove to people that not only are they worth their space, but that SOAD's musicians are all talented and capable of making great music when seperated. World Long Gone is a better song, more passionate song, than anything SOAD has made. Gotta love Daron.
