Jersey Rally 2009 - Victoria Avenue stage

An evening stage for spectators on the Lower Park in St.Helier, held on the island's only dual carriageway on a chilly October evening.

It's a pity there's a small kerb in the very spot where the most impressive handbrake U-turns could have been, as this made most competitors very wary of damaging their cars by sliding sideways over it. But still, there were some great attempts to impress us, for example see the one at about 9 minutes in.

Captured on cheapo-cam, with telltale vertical lines from the car headlights due to CCD sensor 'smear' - sorry about that :)

After taking 100 clips of the cars, hoping to get some great handbrake turns, I very nearly deleted all this lot.... but I decided that maybe the competitors might enjoy a brief moment watching it, if nothing else.

For some reason YouTube has converted the frame rate from 25 to 29.97, making it play less smoothly than it could :(

I wonder if there will be a stage on the avenue this year, since they layed the new road ?

Great footage,I'm glad you didn't delete it, I filmed it too but mine didn't come out very well, my eldest lad was navigator in car 79. Thanks for posting.
