HAMLET 365
T I M M A L O N E Y ... Shaktim ... The Hamlet of YouTube
This was actually Take 2 of TAKE 258
AN ACTOR PREPARES OFFICIAL TAKE 269

I have learned from Jack Stehlin that the ART of Acting is being free and totally ripe; Ripe and fully alive without ANY Boundary. That would be paraphrasing his almost ten minute explanation of the psychology of being human... Because as an Actor, we are asked to put our natural tendencies of living fearfully aside and embrace our entire being ... Another thing I loved was that there is never a destination. so for one of my fans, there is an answer to your question... no arrival, no endgame ... as an actor we must not be thinking Destination. there is nothing but the moment that is infinite and possible and present

Here is the start of me working on the 'What' exercise ... For you actors wondering what this is... or maybe just you humans... its a simple reality check ... to bring you focus and a clear, easy delivery. I know that is not what its meant to do, but that is what is happening for me. I want to do it a lot more and hope I can come up with a description of what happens in 'the moment' when you take that split second to ask yourself 'What' ... What am I saying next ? What do I want ? What ?
You might notice that there is a glimmer of truth in those brief pauses of emptiness, now infused with What... The lines for me have become such a route that it is hard to break the rhythm of the 'song', if you will, since I come to Shakespeare from an auditory perspective ( having heard many cassette tapes of some of our older actors deliver the lines in that heightened ... sing songy / robust way ) ... this is not bad for the STAGE, perhaps, to have the power behind you... But finding a TRUTH in that power is what is an exercise of continuous patience, simplicity and prayer to be set free.

Ok... I might be making some sense here... and I hope for a new place to continue my exploration... one where I don't HAVE to whisper (although, for the most part, many of these TAKES that ARE whispery ... are pretty cool ) But I want to be changing it up for you and begin the process of putting Hamlet on his feet. I'm thinking outside the box. What I am offering you here is not just about ACTING ... its not. IT is ALSO about HOPE and pursuing your dreams ... sometimes, even if the 'people in charge' ... tell you to do something else.

I always have fought harder in my life when people say I CAN'T do something. That Stubbornness is truly a gift.

Please Talk back to me soon... I appreciate ALL comments / Thoughts ... wishes...

peace and enlightenment,
Shaktim

  • I think this is a very good interpretation of Shakespeare's famous line from Hamlet. Very good.
