Paul Maynard MP questions Mark Hoban, Financial Secretary to the Treasury during the Health In Pregnancy Bill debate.

Paul is interested to know if the Savings Accounts & Health in Pregnancy bill had helped improve health in pregnancy beyond week 7.

The two parts of this debate - the Savings Accounts Bill and the Health in Pregnancy Bill were parts of the Labour government social policy.

The Savings Accounts aimed to give certain children an early financial start with savings whilst the Health In Pregnancy bill was set up to give a grant to pregnant women, intended to help them with their diet and self care.

Looking into other ways to help new mums such as vouchers available for nutrition, Sure Start Maternity fund, targetted health care and social services the Conservatives hope to build upon the initial policies making them more effective without wasting the tax payer's money.
