I tried really hard to find it in 1280x720, but no luck. It *does* exist though. Apparently this was released on DVD format at some time or another, but I couldn't find it anywhere (including eBay). This is Natural World 23x1, imo one of the best episodes. I wish there were DVDs for each season of Natural World. :( Anyway, I did the best I could. Source material was 688x384 so I downscaled it a bit myself since Youtube would have anyway (and not as nicely). Let me know if there is some problem (besides the frame skip around ~1:20!).

You may have seen portions of this story in the PBS special "Cheetah Orphans", but about 45m of content was cut from that... So, on to the description (not plagiarized!)...

After their mother dies to a lion attack, Simon King takes on the task of hand-rearing two twelve-week old cheetah cubs that he names Sambu and Toki. This film details his attempts to teach the cubs things that they would otherwise have learned from their mother in his effort to re-release them into the wild. Everything seems to be going smoothly until a dramatic turn of events...

Follow up: Natural World 26x1 - "Toki's Tale"

  • I'm routing for the Impala. fuck the Cheetahs.

  • Simon says, "..you could so easily get the impression that this was a safe country but this was wild Africa" lol. Wonder if he realizes we cant get any closer to God then in God's country, untouched & as he willed it. This is why he & others hunger for it. The rest of the world was destroyed by man who also invented guns ..even as the natives of many cultures respected it and tried to protect it. Destroy the land, you destroy the ppl

  • I love Simon :-) He is such an amazing photographer, nature lover and narrator :-)

  • I'm so glad you put this up. I'd only gotten to see the edited version. Thank you!
