Harry Alford: Barbara Boxer Is Full Of "Pure Race"

On the heels of what he called a "condescending" exchange with Sen. Barbara Boxer, Black Chamber of Commerce president Harry Alford tells Bill O'Reilly that her invoking the NAACP was "pure race" and called the whole ordeal "ugly". He compared it to "Mississippi back in the bad ol' days."

"I don't think she can help herself," Alford said. "When she gets caught up against a wall... race comes out."

O'Reilly sees the flaw in Alford's logic. Alford was called because he represented a BLACK group opposed to cap and trade. She was proper in citing other black groups that supported the bill. His outrage was feigned; he used it in an attempt to discredit Boxer. He played the "race card" in classic fashion; using it to sidetrack the discussion by accusing someone of racism. The only racism here is Alford's. Howja' like to work for that guy?

The whole argument was about "cap and trade," which is a market-based approach to reducing emissions. It is a sound idea which has worked splendidly in the past. He was testifying as an opponent within the black community. Boxer cited other black groups who had a different opinion. What's rascist about that?
