Natural Stone is porous and must be sealed before it is used. The sealing lasts 3-5 years if properly cared for. It is important not to use acidic products on your natural stone, as they will dissolve the seal and etch the stone. Jim Tasillo of Fierst Distributing explains which products to use to get a beautiful long lasting natural travertine or slate floor, wall, backsplash, or fireplace surround.
