Boot up time comparison: Chrome OS vs Windows 7 vs Ubuntu 9.10

Showing the boot up times of Google Chrome OS, Windows 7, and Ubuntu 9.10 netbook remix. Chrome OS is the fastest by far, though I should note that Windows 7 and Ubuntu 9.10 are not clean installs, so it may be faster. Also, Chrome OS is running off of a USB flash drive.

Chrome OS: ~27 seconds
Windows 7: ~55 seconds
Ubuntu: ~50 seconds

Hardware is an Asus EEE PC 1000he netbook (http://bit.ly/4LYi3y):
1.66 GHz Atom CPU
2 GB ram
5400 RPM hd (i think)

Is this Windows 7? The boot screen is from Vista... maybe an early beta, but I tried a few of them and the boot screen was always the same - NOT LIKE THIS

Its pretty sad Chrome OS is just a browser and it STILL takes half the time of an entire REAL OS.

That's not Google Chrome OS. That's Chromium OS. Very similar, yet very different. Just like there is Chromium Browser and Chrome Browser, it's the same thing with those operating systems.

@darthirakli To be fair, though, Chrome has a lot of the stuff that people look for outside of the Internet Browser; it has it's own mini Microsoft Office, decent games...so it actually is quite versatile.

If that was 40 secs I would kill myself. 1) because you were late to choose OS and 2) because you rewrote the password!!! it's actually less!!!!! so make it again to count right!!!

chrome running on usb is not a fair test - cos usb is flash like ssd thus faster than hdd. would be interesting to see a vide with chrome on hdd if you got time?

@inzMBL If its on a low resolution screen like a netbook it uses vista boot screen
