i got a question. Its February and the guard that was already at the tomb does not have a winter hat on. Are they allowed to choose what they wear while at the tomb? or does he just like the cold haha

It was the last ceremony of the day so they are basically in night winter gear.

Everyone was pissed at the lady from the start. She sat right down when the ceremony started and had no control over her kid. She didn't control her kid after that happened either.

Not nearly as bad as one of the times I was there. Not only was the child unruly, so was the parent. She also had to be reminded at JFK's tomb by a fellow visitor that she was in a graveyard. There are signs posted EVERYWHERE that say "SILENCE AND RESPECT". Her child went under the rail and, "ALL visitors to the tomb of the unknown soldier WILL remain behind the RAIL!". Disgusts me they even have to do that. Same people that cant keep their sucks shut at the movies basically.

There is a reason why they challenge you. They are Gaurding the tombs and protecting them it is their Mission, and they are fiercely proud of that! and in winter time they are allowed to wear those pile caps as well as wear aviator sunglasses. its part of their Uniform..But the hard part is getting assigned to this duty, People have been foolish enough to challenge them and women Can gaurd the tombs also.

at 4:25 you find out why you should NOT bring a very small unruly child with you to visit the Tomb! One parent wait outside the Tomb area with the child while the other parent goes in. Or a family member. Take turns. But don't disrupt the ceremony! And yes, I am a mother too!

this is an amazing ceremony ! everyone should be standing and showing respect!

I found it interesting that the specialist in charge did not inspect the relief guard's rifle. didn't know they could skip that step.

Wow...really windy that day...holy cow...if I had been that lady, I would have been cowering....there are just some places you DON'T take a hyper active little child...not unless they are DEFINITELY under control....or leashed at the very least
