You can't stop me! Here's a graphical history of Ulster Television: before, during and "after" the Troubles.

Woo yay into the home stretch now. Next is Scotland (counts as 1 choice) and London (may be a 2-parter) and then I'm done.

  • Thank goodness they didn't adopt the 1989 generic look! Can you imagine the IRA bombing Havelock House (UTV HQ) all because Ulster adopted the ITV look at the time!

  • I doubt it actually would have come to that, but they wouldn't have been impressed.

  • That 1988-1993 version of the oscilloscope never made the air at 3am in the morning from what I can remember; we had the Granada black cat at that time of night back then.

  • Course, you would have done, wouldn't you? So did we. Worth it for the "joke" though.

  • The rotating logo looks like a Christmas tree ornament.

  • I'd guess the 'lady pushing a trolley' one was for daytime programming?

  • Ulster's model ident was infact made from melted down bits of 16mm film that hit the cutting room floor and were of no further use, so somewhere in that silvery telly-on-a-stick images of Gerry Adams and Ian Paisley have melted together in a sickening combination of irate ranting and calm thinly-veiled threats.
