  • Why are the pedals like that and not push style like in reality? Those are more like pressure based pedals. That and the cyclic should not have a centering spring. Other than that it looks like a decent package.

  • @escrotumus

Hi, they are several reason for that.

when flying in the real aircraft, their is always a mechanical small delay due to the mechanism of the pedal. the feeling in the simulator gives also a small apparent delay. having push-pedals type on the simulator compensate for that.

summarized: in the real aicraft you get a small mechanical delay on pedals.

in the simulator, the small delay comes from the simulation itself.

  • having the press/type pedals makes it less expensive to build, and therefor less money for you to buy :-)

another important thing to know is that you are not gonna move much more then 2 cm each side on a standart flight. (it's important to set the sensitivity settings to the max in your simulator software!) this is comparable to the real aircraft!

having the potentiometer right on the axe, the response in ths sim is perfect, and every little movement reacts in the sim.

  • real world pilot always need about 30 minutes to get used to new cockpit and get confortable to new controls type. when i first flew the robinson 22, i needed 15-20 minutes to get used to the new control design. in general, most pilot will fly for 20-30 minutes on the pro flight trainer and won't notice the difference anymore.

    hope that answers your question....

fly safely and i wish you happy landings!

  • @escrotumus forgot about your centering spring question... sorry.

the pedals doesn't have a spring of course as you mentionned.

for the cyclic, their is a spring, and a god reason for the spring to be there... when flying, you always get aerodynamic response from the rotor and can fell these inputs on the cyclic in small helicopters like R22, R44, Schweizer, Moskito, etc... this is less noticable on hydraulic powered controls (jet ranger, ec120, as350)

  • however, you can remove the centering spring on the cyclic of the pro flight trainer to meet your exact wishes :-)

Hello, the twist grip is actually the throttle. what you might call throttle (the bar on the left side which has the twist grip on it) is the collectiv. it will increase or decrease the angle of attack of all main rotor blades. the twist grip is used for start procedures and sometimes for small adjustment (piston helicopters), or for emergencies training. it can also be used to perform landings when loosing tail rotor thrust and other malfunctions.

  • wat does the twist grip on the throttle do

  • Thanks for the video. It will help with a buying decision, I'm sure.
