2. How the corporation came to be. Originally, corporations were set up to serve the public good. Corporation lawyers gained rights through the US Supreme Court using the 14th Amendment (set up to protect slaves) that gives them the rights of a person. In the last century, the corporation is given more and more rights while people are increasingly stripped of theirs.

There just needs to be a lot more regulations on corporations and its hard because all the politicians are bought off by them.

I disagree; I think that government should have stayed the hell out of private business in the first place. Corporations should NOT have any sort of immunity, the board should be personally liable for any harm the corporation causes, and there should not be special loopholes or subsidies for any of them. I'm no fan of modern corporations, to be sure, but I'm no fan of government control, either. Government=corporations=government.

Ron Paul was for deregulation and for that reason alone I did not support him. I still refuse to believe that he is that naive to believe in the 'free market'. If he had it his way he'd throwing us to the fucking wolves. We'd be at the mercy of super-mega conglomerate corporations that will have edged out all the competition and could essentially do whatever they want.

Well when you look at recent cases of deregulation, you see disasterous results. How exactly is allowing a corporation to do whatever it wants a good thing? What's to stop them from forming unstoppable monopolies and then enforcing ridiculous prices and work practices because they have the market cornered in any particular industry? In this scenario, the little guy doesn't stand a chance.

All Sovereign people need to recognize, reclaim, and declare their Sovereignty of their countries. After that is done they then need to organize, plan, and establish a non-monetary democratic government system that would also be based on rights and full transparency towards the people.

Early joint stock companies weren't corporations. Incorporation by default meant a charter, both in the U.S. and before that in Britain.

I'm wondering why a documentary named, "The Corporation" should cover joint stock companies, when it clearly focuses on 1) Corporations and 2) The modern practices of them.

Wow. Not even trying to get their history right. Look up early joint stock companies on Wikipedia. They existed WAY before industrialization.
