A quartet from the Blue Nights Jazzband with Rugby pianist Johnny Knee sitting in played a set at this Boxing Day session. The Blue Nights was a Chicago Style jazz band that Mac Randle led in the 1990's on Soprano Sax as opposed to the normal Trumpet. The Bechet influence is obvious but don't look for emulation here :) Ditto regarding Bunny Berigan.
This particular Boxing Day session was a very busy and noisy affair but we all enjoyed the festive spirit. Quite a few visiting musicians stopped by and had a blow.
Recorded by Bill Torrance on Boxing Day 1991 at the Princethorpe Club and recently processed by Midnitesun with further editing by Remsys.
