  • Alright guys, this is something I posted on a Battlesong video that someone else uploaded and I caught alot of shit for it.

If I'm right on my dates, Ugly Duckling's "Fresh Mode" EP came out in 1999. Deltron 3030 came out in 2000. On Fresh Mode there is a song called "Now Who's Laughing" The first 15 or so seconds contains the same sample/beat that Dan uses for this whole song.

So did Dan bite Young Einstein (Ugly Duckling's producer)? Its literally the exact same beat.

  • no you are right... just listened to the song... first 9 seconds is the beat for this song... but i still like this song... its awesome... plus dan does add in a bunch to make the beat his own... looks like just sampled the other song...

  • Yea, I was just suprised more people didn't know about that.

  • Funk, hip hop, metal, rock, techno, fuck even country...its all music. Good music breaks all genre barriers.

  • Del uses a shit load of metaphors in this song... it seems he may just be too complex for you. = |

  • Thumbs up if Gorrilaz brought you here.

  • @TairyHesticles They just sampled the same breaks... It happens all the time in hip hop... If you think this is "biting" than Young Einstein bit this track off Zoo. The drum break is from Zoo and the track is called "If You Lose Your Woman." As a producer I wouldn't be surprised if Dan wasn't aware that he sampled the same break. I sample shit all the time and find out later producers like Madlib flipped it like 15 years ago. It's all musical interpretation, Dan gave it the 3030 style.

  • ive been lookn for this song! i love it. accidentally downloaded it form frostwire and it said it was by gorrilaz haha dumb people on there.

  • Damn three people miss-clicked that thumbs up button.

  • Soooo many good memories with this song.

  • @SnMcDouble True artistry; at some point I need to repurchase this album before I'm like eighty and can no longer find it.

  • meaphorically speaking

  • @Poet1k if you listen close, he's really talking about how aliens made the earth inhabitable and did surgery to turn us into 'homosapiens'

  • i like this song the least on this album, but the rest of the album: GOLD
