  • "God is not as 'loving' as I thought" does NOT equal "God does not exist...

    PS: God is JUST...

  • @sfyr That just another excuse to cover for your lack of intelligence.

  • @mjohns375 wow, couldn't have said it better myself.

  • @Budoman69: The fish analogy is not irrelevant nor unreasonable. They are caught in their own realm, given their own intellect. They cannot reason beyond those limits, so, they are their own masters of their universe.

    That's fine by me.

However, it's when they start saying the entire universe ends with the walls.

Just a few hundred years ago, man thought THEY were the center of the universe.

Science will constantly change, because it's our perseption of things.

    God's word IS.

  • @Budoman69: 1. No. If you read my comments, you would see that i put more faith in God's word, over religion; while i thought i had made those 2 distinctions clear, if not seperate. Yes, I do believe Man is "naive" if they claim their knowledge is the epitome of ALL knowledge in the universe. The "buck" doesn't stop with man. We know LESS THAN 1% of what's really out there in the universe, it would be illogical to hedge your bet on that.

And i called man naive for that, not you.

  • @camthejock That makes no sense at all. Atheists don't think Christians are "Stupid" just delusional. Confused. Fanatical. Violent. Narrow-minded. Dangerous. Self-righteous. That's what most Atheists think of Christians. They believe in a magical God that made the universe and everything in it. Stupid? No. Crazy? Absolutely!!

  • @shimatetsuo2019 You believe in God but don't go to church? You believe in God but don't adhere to his teachings? And perhaps I am Atheist, because I discount the existence of a magical God. If that makes me naive, then your beliefs make you delusional. The whole "Fish Tank" analogy is irrelevant, not to mention unreasonable. You can't compare fish to people, even in an analogous manner. Unbiased logic tells me that God can't possibly exist. I might be wrong, but not likely.

  • @Budoman69: I suppose you sounded as much as an athesit to me as I sounded religious to you. I absolutely believe in the One God. He that is. Does that mean I go to church, mosque, or synagoue? Or adhere to their teachings in said buildings? No. My point- man is too insignificant and limitied in his abilities, it's completely naive to say then - there is no God (or whatever entity you wish to follow). Fish in a tank are completely unaware of people watching them, yet we're there.

  • @shimatetsuo2019 First of all, I'm not an Atheist. Second, our past is extremely complex, and I don't claim to know "the truth" about God or religion. I can only observe and reflect that observation in a logical, rational way. And you sure seem religious to me. You talked about "the one God" that has persevered through time. Were you just making a point, or is that your point of view? Neither do I put man's understanding as the epitome of all knowledge. Mankind is too flawed.

  • @Budoman69: I do love debating atheists, you see the other side of the argument. Don't get me wrong, I don't bash people for what they believe. If we disagree, I'd still enjoy the debate and buy that person a beer.

I am not "religious". I believe religion is a corruption of truth, usually through\by money-- but that doesn't lead me to give up my search.

For certain, there is 1 truth, because we have 1 past.

I just don't put man's understanding at the epitome of all knowledge.

  • @shimatetsuo2019 One God has persevered through the test of time? What??? No offense, but do you realize how crazy that sounds? This is one of the many, many red flags about religion: There are literally hundreds of different religions, each group thinks their beliefs are right and all the others are wrong--that their God is the only true God. And yes, it is a leap of faith. Faith is the cornerstone of religion. All of them. I have faith that God doesn't exist.

  • @Budoman69: I find it remarkable that this same God is still worshiped. After thousands of years of man's recorded history, there have been as many gods\religions as there are stars. Yet, only one God has persevered through the test of time. For 1,500 years the message has always been the same and clear - "I am God, I am One, I am the Alpha & Omega, all other gods are false".

My point: I agree with you, we cannot prove anything. Yet, all this can't be just a "leap" of faith.
