He says: "the background song used is an edited version of the Bulgarian folk song - "Pilence Pee". I just saw that a lot of people were asking in the comments for the video and I'd love it if more people were introduced to Bulgarian folk songs, they really are an ethereal experience."

Pop Will Eat Itself sampled a Pilentze Pee recording for their song "Another Man's Rhubarb" in 1990. I'd say that is certainly the first time it was ever sampled.

Kinda makes all this discussion about who stole what first. PWEI were the original thieves.

@Cayitfer haha,yep-if they both sampled the same bulgarian song (with different ppl singing), then I would doubt vast could sue. whosampled-dot com suggests they both used the Bulgarian State Radio & Television Female Vocal Choir, so theres only a chance2sue if vast had some sort of contract2be the ONLY one allowed to use the choir..im sure Jason wouldve checked 1st. It sounds like people on here are simply arguing because they prefer one track2the other-nothing wrong with liking both

@thedarkness667 Good.  Sounds like you agree that nothing was stolen. Vast can't sue, as Vast didn't originate what Jason & CO sampled (it's Bulgarian Pilentze Pee). Vast probably doesn't own the rights to the sample. I'm just sick of people accusing Jason of stealing a song (he was given permission to sample). Jason & CO went through the legal channels, so people should stop with the accusations. (:

@Cayitfer thats what I thought,it prob gets complicated legally-if vasts exact studio edited sample was used by jason,then vast (or the record label that owned vast track) could prob sue.It may depend on what bulgarian group sang the pilentze pee track on either album-if they both sampled the same bulgarian group it may b on how long either artist (jason/vast)can have rights2the group-even if"allowed"2use song+diff bulgarian groups sampled,there r always legal tricks around matters2sue
