My husband who is a videographer, caught this building collapse. Shot May 5, 1997 at 1016 Avenue Of The Americas in midtown Manhattan. It was a 6 alarm fire which suspended the F&D subway lines. The building was a 5 story brick building and the fire started in the basement of "Make 10" store which sold shoes. Although the collapse was a surprise, no one was hurt.
HIs footage was featured on "Destroyed In Seconds" September, 2009!

That water has a lot of pressure too. The pressure from the water could have knocked some of it down, which was already weakened from the fire. That more than likely is what it was.
