  • The riots could have been stoped dead in their tracks had the Detroit Police Department had a real amount of fully automatic weapons and helicopter gunships.

Superior tactics and firepower will defeat the enemy every time.

Perhaps after the take over of the white man in the future there will be a new riot?

  • @Justincasethompson i don't discourage a dialogue of ideas but vicious, irrational and ignorant comments like this one get jettisoned... unfortunately the remove comment feature is not working today so we are stuck having to look at some unsolicited verbiage designed to hurt others. i will remove it as soon as youtube allows. but, in the meantime, have a nice day...

  • blacks started the riots. its true. i am not racist. i read it on a bunch of different sites

  • @Chewy6348 it depends on your point of view. from my point of view, the police started the riots.

  • i have noticed that white supremacists have linked to this video, apparently believing that it proves some sort of point they are trying to make. Many of them have left racist comments which I have deleted. This video is not meant to spread hate but to provide a bit of introspection on one of this country's gaping wounds. peace!

  • The sad thing is that Detroit is always having fires. Whenever i go there there are houses and buildings burned down.

  • any viewers who are interested in this subject should definitely view the Eyes on the Prize episode that covers MLK's showdown with Daley in Chicago, and then moves to Detroit to review the riot. I'm not an American, but I still think this is one of the most interesting chapters in 20th Century American History.

  • @chitaku Not every Black was innocent brother

  • I was born and raised in Detroit, ..you are somewhat correct, the presence of stress units did not help out- which became a election platform for Coleman Young. However let's delegate the blame acurately- Blind Pigs Are Illegal-period.. If "Blacks" ( small percentage) wanted to stick it to the man- then they should have rioted in Grosse Pointe or in another community so that everyday people would still have stores to shop for groceries and staple items(toilet paper, toothpaste ,etc..)-

  • As a White Detroiter I can tell you it was the police who incited the riots, blacks were treated like garbage by the cops in those days.

  • @illharmonic The best way to put it is the african americans involved started the riot directly, but the police started the riot indirectly by causing unrest through police bruitality
