Thanks - but I am not obsessed with my civil rights. When I feel as though my liberty has truly been compromised, i'll have a word. Until then, I am just not willing to join in on all "the sky is falling" we are losing our rights hysteria.....

You should read some of the legislation passed during the Bush years. Start with the Patriot Act. You should also look at the Protect America Act, The Military Commissions Act and the FISA Amendments Act of 2008. Maybe they didn't use "sneak and peak" warrants against you, but they were used against Brandon Mayfield and probably numerous others. Luckily, the judge was smart enough to strike down that clause of the Patriot Act out of his case. Obama voted for this in the Senate, he's no better.

Your tired arguments are tedious and pale in comparison to the shit America is being forced to swallow now.....

Ho hum - the old "civil liberties" argument - yawn - like establishing an email address to rat on your neighbors isn't? None of my civil liberties were violated. Keith Olbermann kept trying to convince me that they had been, but I never experienced any vioolation of my privacy under the Bush administration. Under Obama, I have already received unsolicited spam email from DAvid Axelrod that, apparently, my tax dollars paid for.

Not every government took five years of surpluses and balanced budgets (granted part of that was raiding the social security surplus) and turned into the kind of financial mess you have now, which is brutally unsustainable. Not every government preemptively struck another country so in clear violation of Intentional law. Nor were they so negligent towards contrary intelligence given to them to promote groupthink goals. Also, nor did all of them abuse civil liberties the way the Bush boys did.

That's the first thing you've said I agree with (to an extent). By country, what I meant was it's people. I love all countries in this respect. I love Zimbabwe, I love Britain, I love Iran, I love the United States, I love everywhere in this respect. Now all these countries I named, I despise the governments of. Some governments do their work diligently overall though (Tommy Douglas, George Washington to name two), so it's not all governments all the time, and some are much worse than others.

There is a difference between what ALL governments do, and what the people of the countries believe....

I lived in Michigan for 5 1/2 years. I love the U.S. Your Constitution and Bill of Rights are some of the wisest in history. I just don't like a few of your past governments. There's also a difference between your country and your government and what it does. Ex: I'm Canadian and love my country, but not Stephen Harper. I also hated the Canadian involvement in the slaughter of Somali teenagers in the 93' deployment, residential schools and how Natives have been and continue to be treated.
