@jigglypiggly Initiation of the IFF system is not required to engage a target, also the IFF system does not lock out the firing of the weapon on receiving the correct IFF challenge. It also plays no part in the guidance of the missile itself, the IR/UV seeker of the missile is solely responsible. Again, The IFF subsystem does not identify hostile aircraft or prevent Stinger from firing at friendly aircraft.

@jigglypiggly IFF signals are just a string of pulses timed correctly. Believe me there are clever engineers in the world.
