Social entropy is a macrosociological systems theory. Social Entropy is a measure of the natural decay within a social system. It can refer to the decomposition of social structure or of the disappearance of social distinctions. Much of the energy consumed by a social organisation is spent to maintain its structure, counteracting social entropy, e.g., through legal institutions, education and even the promotion of television viewing. Anarchy is the maximum state of social entropy-wiki

The American Journal of Sociology Vol. 96 No.6 (may,1991)pp.1544

Rudolg Clausius used the entropy concept to develop what has become know as the second law of thermodynamics. According to this principle, the entropy of any physical system tends to increase. It follows that the only stable condition is one of maximum entropy, sometimes interpreted to mean total randomness. The second law of thermodynamics poses an extremely serious problems for social theory. If this law is correct, how can we explain systems of social interaction in which entropy appears to decrease rather than increase? And what implications does the second law have for the notion of social euilibrium? Is the only true social equilibrium a condition of total randomness tantaamount to the disintegration of society?

  • The Second Law deals with energy and how it relates to work and heat. It does not have anything to do with social structure, the same way that Darwinism has nothing to do with politics (aka Social Darwinism).

Trying to use a physical law to explain sociology is rather silly, and potentially dangerous.

  • The dis-integration of society! <3 <3 <3

  • It's the universe' entropy that always increases. In the case of societies, if the earth population is viewed like a social universe, then yes. It's overall entropy will always increase. I am not sure about anarchy though... Cause that has to do with political systems. I related it more to mixing of culture, races and ethnicity... Not that I wholly understand it! Just thinking... :-)
