  • Why mma and boxing?

  • @MrSupasexi Well for a number of reasons. Collegiate basketball players train year round. Doing the same type of training throughout the entire calendar can get boring -- not to mention cause the body to plateau. By incorporating MMA and Boxing training we are able to manage exercise load and intensity while keeping everything "fresh."

  • What is more, it takes highly specialized athletes completely out of their element (in this instance basketball) and forces them to train muscles and movement they wouldn't otherwise. As a collegiate strength coach, I don't focus on strengthening just a particular muscle like a bodybuilder does -- I TRAIN MOVEMENT.

  • Doing so makes for a more durable, stronger and better conditioned athlete. Muscles build themselves in a natural and symmetrical fashion when focusing on movement. SImply strengthening weak muscles will not change/improve the movement patterns (e.g. running jumping sprinting, etc). That's the difference between the personal trainer and collegiate strength and conditioning.

  • Rob Dougan, Clubbed To Death (Kurayamino Mix). I got the song from The Matrix Movie Soundtrack. I think you can download it on iTunes.
