This is my little tribute to a unique anime series, and the characters within it who overcome their adversities, and learn to "Fly."
Not only is The Twelve Kingdoms an outstanding fantasy story, it is a philosophical and psychological study of some of the most unforgettable characters ever written, such as Youko, Suzu, Shokei, and Kouya, each who has a unique journey to make towards wisdom and maturity.
I highly recommend everyone watch the anime series Juuni Kokki (The Twelve Kingdoms), or at the least those who are looking for something beyond the typical fantasy of wizards and elves, the common portrayal of sensation over depth, or the usual cut of heroes and villains who fall clearly on the side of all-good or all-evil. Thankfully, this anime offers something different.
