Music video tells story of Atari's E.T. game debacle
An indie band has made a music video featuring the story of the misbegotten Atari E.T. game cartridge. The game stank on ice and millions of copies were buried in a landfill -- the song's pretty good too. www.wintergreenmusic.com www.keithschofield.com

  • @lowes48impala sadly, in real life it got cemented and steamrolled over. standard policy of the dump

  • @u2bowned The game actually isn't THAT bad, especially in comparison to much of the 3rd party crap that helped precipitate the video game crash of of '83. Yea it sucks, but no more then a host of other games of that era. I think it was the price $50-60 1982 $'s = around $140 to $180 2011 $'s! The game was an X-mas "must have" & the price only added insult to the injury of seeing your child's glowing anticipation/gift unwrapping, quickly fade to crushing disappointment after 5 minutes of play.

  • God I love this video. So much nostalgia from the early days of video gaming.

  • sadly :'(

  • Wow, I thought it was just an urban legend..

  • Best 240p video ever.

  • yes. tond of atari games have gone directly to waste, most of them to the same lanfill, but that landfill is not only full of atari games. thats just silly. and all the other waste makes the wasted games unplayable.

  • @Macintoshplus1986 probably fake, because if this story is true, they apparently covered the crushed cartridges with cement.

  • Is this game REALLY so bad to the point they would want to bury all unsold copies? I mean, I found Mindjack and HP DH Part 1 and 2 to be much worse games, because even given the resources we have nowadays (better graphics, sound, gameplay, etc), these games and a lot other came crashing down. I mean, back when E.T. came out, the video-games were much more simple. Now, they can make awesome games (there are a lot of amazing games out there too), and some people fail to do that...

  • @digipimp75 I was 5 in 1982. I had that game and beat it.

  • I was 7yrs old in 1982 (long before most of you fuckers were even born). Got this for Christmas that year and... wow... it was absolutely atrocious

  • 140 people Bang Cats in the ass!
