I don't know why, but I cant's understand nothing, only some words :(

@RichardHarrowForReal You play the wise guy! The french became the language of the court and administration with Latin for many centuries! Whoever wanted to climb the social hierarchy and serve the state should learn french! Ordinary people continued to speak English! So the french for three centuries became the official language of the English state. Do you understand or do I make a drawing?

@aus2045 My girlfriend loves that stuff too. You can have her if you want.

@ltsaint911 Hardly passive subservience, we've spent most of our history scrapping with each other. Scotch culture is great, and both the Scottish and the English have punched above their weight for the past half millenium.

@espoire1757 'The Normans impose French in England for more than three centuries' - only nobility spoke french, the english people spoke english. A germanic language. Not latin. Try again.
-
@iirainey , I totally agree with you

I love this stuff. But I have given a marriage and another 6yr relationship to my fascination of Mesolithic and Neolithic life. These women said I was boring and dull. But I find nothing dull about researching our past.

I think you will agree with this summary! When the question of whether the Normans are French or not I think you'll never agree with me, even if the answer is more than evident on the facts of history! when in your example with the Danelaw, it did nothing like if Norman!

In short! In 1066, landed an army in England, consisting of Normans, Bretons and knights from all other parts of northern France speak a Latin language in case the French, with French names, dressed in the French, and having French culture! conquering one country to Germanic culture under the influence of Scandinavian civilization
From then until the reform of Henry VIII, England will become part of the Latin cultural area.The Normans impose French in England for more than three centuries

Normandy as other duchies participate fully in the affairs of the kingdom of France. Nothing differentiates the Duchy of Normandy other duchies of the realm! Language, culture, religion are the same as the rest of the kingdom. (The same code of chivalry, the same architecture and the same moral value) short people belonging to French civilization, there is nothing left of Scandinavian, except maybe an immoderate taste for conquest!
Its sad I now have to search youtube for history because the History Channel is now "The Reality TV and Other Stupid Shit Channel"

Why are British history videos always full of jealous, bitter Scots anyway? So what if it focuses on England. The fact is England is much bigger, has a far higher population and has dominated this island for a thousand years, whether you like it or not. If you Scots hate England that much, go and watch a video on your sorry, pitiful history of passive subservience and whine about us there.
