One minute video of the Jetta MFD showing instant fuel milage well over the EPA estimate. This was on a level road, windows closed, no A/C

  • The key is the speed and terrain. At that speed on a perfectly flat smooth tarmac a Mustang can get 40mpg. Guaranteed my 2.5 Jetta would get 35mpg easy. I once drove a 2011 Focus around town AVERAGING about that speed and got 42mpg average. I think the 49mpg the EPA claims is at highway speeds. Pretty sure at 75, your TDI would be around 45-50. High speed KILLS fuel economy, 40-50mph is ideal.

  • @sausagenmuff

if he was coasting downhill it would show 999MPG

  • @keithbu

if he was coasting downhill, the rpm would be about a thousand lower.

this is standard milage for a tdi at 45mph

  • sometimes i get 110 mpg in my tdi, but if you use a whole tank of gas, and divide miles driven by 14.5 (fuel tank size) you get your accurate mpg. it is usually 37. right on the dot

  • Yep, That about what I expected. I have an 05 Passat TDI and If I shift into 5th at 42MPH, set the cruise, I can see an instant average bouncing between 55 and 65 and an overall avg of 58. I can get right up to 40 in the city If I Baby it, Coast as much as possible. And piss a ffew cars off behind me as I coast up to every light. My normal city driving is more like 32-34. Overall, I'm still very happy with my TDI.

  • I get better mpg than a Veyron! 14 combined!

  • my passat says i get 80mpg if i have it on instant mileage and light throttle but i really get 23mpg that rating is so fake you make vw drivers look bad

  • EPA City/Hwy/Combined

    Prius 2010 - 51/48/50

    Prius 2004 - 48/45/46

    HS 250 2010- 35/34/35

    Jetta Tdi 2010- 30/42/34

    Veyron 2010- 8/14/10

I am pretty sure the EPA test doesn't consist of a guy coasting around at 43mph. If it did then the Prius would get a rating of 100mpg.

  • Aw...

    Hes mad.

    Didn't see that coming:)

  • Hey lying fool, you want to see the 2010 Prius is no match against the 2010 TDI in a none bias test. Edmonds has a new video out testing them and about 4 other cars to see which one is the best. By the way Edmonds has always discredits the Prius. But the facts don't lie, only losers like you do.
