Assuming you want to look at and/or walk around the second life world, first you'll need to have downloaded the Second Life viewer. Any bookmarks you click will use that viewer.
If however you want to drop in only to chat, you can use an unofficial viewer-in-a-webpage: AjaxLife, Movable Life, SLeek, or MetaBolt. You can log in right from their website, no installation necessary. I have never used them myself so I don't know much more.
