Both phones are 3G16 GB iPhones running OS 2.0.2.
Sorry for the poor video quality, blame my Creative Vado.
The phone on the left has 3G enabled and the phone on the right has 3g disabled. Both phones have WiFi disabled. Both have 5 bars of reception throughout the video.
At the beginning of the video I clear the cache and cookies on both phones.
First I load Gizmodo.com
The phone set to Edge has the site mostly loaded before the phone set to 3G tells me it couldn't even make a connection.
The next site I load is m.digg.com. Edge is the clear winner.
The next site I load is i.engadget.com.
I gave up waiting for 3G.
Apple and AT&T... WTF?!@?
The speed also depends on how full the phone's memory is. For instance, my iphone 4 (which is loaded up with tons of crap) is WAY slower than my sister's iphone 3G.

i guess it depends on location. in my hometown, 3g is WAY faster than edge. but when i go to a neighboring city with no 3g signal, the edge is incredibly fast. it's weird.
